Книга является обобщением результатов проводимых авторами многолетних исследований по вопросам разработки интегрированных инерциально-спутниковых систем ориентации и навигации (ИСОН), являющихся информационной основой современных систем управления движением различных подвижных объектов.

Авторы постарались представить в книге наиболее интересные аспекты и проблемы при создании современных ИСОН, содержащих бескарданные инерциальные измерительные модули (БИИМ) и приёмную аппаратуру (ПА) спутниковых навигационных систем (СНС). Так, приводятся дискретные рекуррентные алгоритмы функционирования и модели погрешностей как БИИМ, использующих различные типы гироскопов, и ПА СНС, так и ИСОН в целом для их имитационного моделирования в пакете MATLAB (Simulink).
