This book provides a comprehensive overview of advanced digital disruptive technologies that can be used or currently used in Construction, and Smart Infrastructures. It provides a holistic collection of such disruptive technologies to address issues or otherwise uplift the technological aspects of various aspects of human lives and projects, impacting the overall culture and society sustainability. These pertinent technologies explored in this book are Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Clouds, and Big Data. It is expected that the book will unify the fields of construction and project management through the integration AI frameworks provided in various chapters.

Biometric recognition has gained popularity in recent years. This paper proposes using BPNN for face recognition, a biometric recognition technique, due to its wide range of face recognition applications in video surveillance, retrieval of identity criminal investigations, passport verification, home and office security, and forensic applications. In this paper, Olivetti and Oracle Research Laboratory (ORL) face database was tested as a proposed method, which consists of 10 face images with different poses and expressions (happiness, sadness, normal, Eye close, fair) for 40 people. The face recognition algorithm was implemented using MATLAB and trained in a back propagation neural network. The results indicate that the proposed method achieved a high recognition rate, with an accuracy of 100%.

Paper presents a modeling of the multi-criteria metric and various suggested resolutions to outline a routing solution that meets the requirements of real-time applications in intelligent environments. The proposed extension of this metric addresses additional mobility aspects necessary for all objects within the ecosystem, considering the ubiquity of smart environment applications. The integration of IoT technology addresses limitations in urban scenarios, promoting the hybridization of LoRaWAN and WiFi communication for global network coverage and stable, reliable routing paths. Furthermore, the paper discusses the influence of Artificial Intelligence in future cities, highlighting the use of learning algorithms to aid decision-making within the proposed routing solution. The integration of SDN solutions is emphasized to overcome interoperability issues and system heterogeneity, ensuring scalability and robustness of the proposed solutions. We will begin by introducing the concept of a smart city, its architecture and its applications, as well as the notions related to the Internet of Things (IoT), emerging technologies and the networks making up the IoT. Subsequently, key terms relating to Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Machine Learning (ML) will be described. Finally, we will present the main concepts of data routing in smart environments.
