Издательство: IOP Publishing
Год: 2020
Страниц: 273
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true), epub

Describes the principles and techniques of image processing using MATLAB. Every chapter is accompanied by a collection of exercises and programming assignments. The book is augmented with supplementary MATLAB codeand hints and solutions to problems are also provided. Digital image processing has applications in almost all fields of science and engineering as practitioners in these fields have to, at some point, handle images. The applications of digital image processing can be seen and felt in fields as diverse as remote sensing, astronomy, material science, and medical diagnosis. MATLAB is one of the most widely used software packages for the analysis and visualization of data in science and engineering. It is also well suited for implementing algorithms for image processing since it has a separate image processing toolbox. The image processing toolbox contains many built-in functions for implementing many of the algorithms we have discussed in this book.

Meta-heuristic Optimization Techniques: Applications in EngineeringНазвание: Meta-heuristic Optimization Techniques: Applications in Engineering
Автор: Anuj Kumar, Sangeeta Pant, Mangey Ram
Издательство: De Gruyter
Год: 2022
Страниц: 204

Формат: pdf (true), epub
Размер: 14.1 MB

This book is motivated by the fact that meta-heuristic optimization techniques have become very popular among researchers and engineers over the last two decades. The widespread applicability of various optimization methods makes them a hot spot for researchers. A few years back one even can’t think that school of fish, genes, nature of bat or ant can be used to design optimization algorithms, but nature has the solution of every problem. Nature-inspired optimization algorithms usually attempt to find a good approximation to the solution of complex optimization problems of various fields of sciences, engineering, and industries. It is applicable in almost all spheres of human life for the purpose of optimization of various parameters. Whereas a heuristic algorithm discovers the optimal solution in the search space of an optimization problem by “trial and error” with a weak guarantee of success, a metaheuristic algorithm performs better than that.

Страниц: 338
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true)
Размер: 10.0 MB

This textbook is intended as a textbook for one-semester, introductory computer science courses aimed at undergraduate students from all disciplines. Self-contained and with no prerequisites, it focuses on elementary knowledge and thinking models. The content has been tested in university classrooms for over six years, and has been used in summer schools to train university and high-school teachers on teaching introductory computer science courses using computational thinking. The book’s structure encourages active, hands-on learning using the pedagogic tool Bloom's taxonomy to create computational solutions to over 200 problems of varying difficulty. Students solve problems using a combination of thought experiment, programming, and written methods. Only 300 lines of code in total are required to solve most programming problems in this book.

Algorithmic Information Theory for Physicists and Natural ScientistsНазвание: Algorithmic Information Theory for Physicists and Natural Scientists
Автор: Sean D Devine
Издательство: IOP Publishing

Страниц: 238
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true), epub
Размер: 10.3 MB

Algorithmic information theory (AIT), or Kolmogorov complexity as it is known to mathematicians, can provide a useful tool for scientists to look at natural systems, however, some critical conceptual issues need to be understood and the advances already made collated and put in a form accessible to scientists. AIT is a branch of theoretical Computer Science that concerns itself with the relationship between computation and information of computably generated objects (as opposed to stochastically generated), such as strings or any other data structure. This book has been written in the hope that readers will be able to absorb the key ideas behind AIT so that they are in a better position to access the mathematical developments and to apply the ideas to their own areas of interest. The theoretical underpinning of AIT is outlined in the earlier chapters, while later chapters focus on the applications, drawing attention to the thermodynamic commonality between ordered physical systems such as the alignment of magnetic spins, the maintenance of a laser distant from equilibrium, and ordered living systems such as bacterial systems, an ecology, and an economy.

Quantum Computing: A pathway to quantum logic designНазвание: Quantum Computing: A pathway to quantum logic design
Автор: Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu
Издательство: IOP Publishing
Год: 2020
Страниц: 272
Язык: английский

Quantum computing is an emerging technology with the potential to have a significant impact on science and society. Recent advances in mathematics, material science and computer engineering are transforming quantum computing from theory into practice. As quantum computing is an entirely different concept compared to classical computing, it is necessary to develop a new way of thinking to establish the new technologies for the current quantum revolution. This book is an essential resource for students and active researchers where the readers are introduced to quantum computing and quantum logic, fault tolerant quantum computing and quantum dot cellular automata (QCA).

Classical and Physical Security of Symmetric Key Cryptographic AlgorithmsНазвание: Classical and Physical Security of Symmetric Key Cryptographic Algorithms
Автор: Anubhab Baksi
Издательство: Springer

This book consolidates several key aspects from the state-of-the-art research in symmetric key cryptography, which is among the cornerstones of digital security. It presents the content in an informative yet beginner-friendly, accompanied with toy examples and comprehensible graphics. In particular, it highlights the recent developments in tool-assisted analysis of ciphers. Furthermore, promising device-dependent attacks, such as fault attack and side channel attacks on symmetric key ciphers, are discussed in detail. One salient feature of this book is to present a detailed analysis of various fault countermeasures. The coverage of our book is quite diverse—it ranges from prerequisite information, latest research contribution as well as future research directions. Cryptography is the branch of computer science (often involves electronics, mathematics, and statistics) which studies the area security mostly from a theoretical perspective. In short, it deals with data confidentiality (or privacy), integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation.
