Intelligent Techniques for Predictive Data Analytics provides an in-depth introduction of the tools and techniques used for predictive analytics, covering applications in cyber security, network security, data mining, and Machine Learning across various industries. Each chapter offers a brief introduction on the subject to make the text accessible regardless of background knowledge. Readers will gain a clear understanding of how to use data processing, classification, and analysis to support strategic decisions, such as optimizing marketing strategies and customer relationship management and recommendation systems, improving general business operations, and predicting occurrence of chronic diseases for better patient management. Traditional data analytics uses dashboards to illustrate trends and outliers, but with large data sets, this process is labor-intensive and time-consuming. This book provides everything readers need to save time by performing deep, efficient analysis without human bias and time constraints. A section on current challenges in the field is also included. Data mining is the process of discovering meaningful patterns, correlations, and relationships in large datasets using computational algorithms. It involves various steps, including data preprocessing, pattern discovery, and result interpretation, extracting knowledge, and making informed decisions from large and complex datasets. It combines techniques from various domains such as statistics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and database systems to explore and analyze structured and unstructured data to gain insights and generate actionable information.

Название: The Golden Age of Data Visualization: How Did We Get Here?
Автор: Kimbal Marriott
Издательство: CRC Press
Год: 2025
Страниц: 375
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true)
Размер: 36.1 MB

We are living in the Golden Age of Data Visualization. The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated how we increasingly use data visualizations to make sense of the world. Business analysts fill their presentations with charts, journalists use infographics to engage their readers, we rely on the dials and gauges on our household appliances, and we use mapping apps on our smartphones to find our way. This book explains how and why this has happened. It details the evolution of information graphics, the kinds of graphics at the core of data visualization―maps, diagrams, charts, scientific and medical images―from prehistory to the present day. It explains how the cultural context, production and presentation technologies, and data availability have shaped the history of data visualization. It considers the perceptual and cognitive reasons why data visualization is so effective and explores the little-known world of tactile graphics―raised-line drawings used by people who are blind. The book also investigates the way visualization has shaped our modern world. The European Renaissance and the Scientific Revolution relied on maps and technical and scientific drawings, and graphics influence how we think about abstract concepts like time and social connection. Tableau was one of the first commercially available visual analytics tools. Released in May 2003, Tableau allowed business and government analysts to create an almost endless variety of visualizations by dragging and dropping data fields onto the tool’s main panel. They could effortlessly create standard visualizations like choropleth maps and bar charts or craft their own custom chart. The resulting visualizations were interactive. This book is written for data visualization researchers and professionals and anyone interested in data visualization and the way we use graphics to understand and think about the world.

Название: Matrix Structural Analysis and the Finite Element Methods Using Scilab and Octave: A Problem-Solving Approach
Автор: Bedilu Habte
Издательство: CRC Press
Год: 2025
Страниц: 507
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true)
Размер: 10.1 MB

This book covers code development for structural analysis and includes topics from finite element methods such as modeling and analysis of continuum structures. It explains the concepts showing derivation of necessary equations, relationships, and steps in solving structural analysis problems. It contains worked examples, problem sets, and ample Scilab and Octave codes to teach structural analysis techniques using these softwares. Access to computing facilities has been increasing from time to time, and a typical college student nowadays owns a laptop or has access to a personal computer at home or the college. Besides, there are appropriate software that assist in performing routine and complex matrix operations like matrix multiplication and inversion. The second reason for writing this book is to overcome those difficulties associated with formulating and solving structural analysis problems through programming or coding on a suitable platform step by step and interactively. The book aims to provide concise reading materials explaining the concepts and showing the derivation of necessary equations, relationships and steps in solving structural analysis problems. It also contains worked examples, problem sets and ample Scilab and Octave code to teach structural analysis techniques using MSA/FEM. Scilab and Octave are free and open-source software for scientific computation and visualization. In addition to being free and open-source, they offer excellent platforms for practicing computer-aided structural analysis tasks. Since the syntax for Octave is identical to Matlab, the Octave program codes in this book can be executed in Matlab directly without any modification.
