The OS or operating system is an interface between user and the hardware components of a device. To interface with the OS there are only two ways: A command line interface (CLI) uses a terminal or to interact with an operating system. User responds to a visual prompt by typing a command and receives a response back from the system. A graphical user interface (GUI) uses graphics, along with a keyboard and a mouse, to provide an interface to a program.
