The updated book presents Matlab illustrations on various digital signal processing (DSP) techniques such as random process, time varying wireless system model, and detection and estimation theory used in wireless communication. The book also covers recent wireless techniques like OFDM, massive MIMO techniques, non-orthogonal multiple access, millimeter wave MIMO, full duplex, cognitive radio, co-operating communication, unmanned aerial vehicles etc. This book is suitable for those who are doing basic and applied research in digital signal processing for wireless communication.

The book aims in demonstrating digital signal processing concepts involved in wireless communication using Matlab with required theoretical explanation for quicker understanding. The book is divided into five chapters. The modulation techniques like FSK, QPSK, and MSK and the methodology in computing the corresponding spectral density are discussed in the first chapter. Hilbert transformation-based bandpass to baseband conversion and spectral estimation using Barlett, Welch, and Blackman-Tuckey techniques are also discussed in this chapter. In the second chapter, multipath time varying channel model (continuous and discrete), coherence time, coherence frequency, Doppler spread and the Delay spread are discussed. The probabilistic models like κ − μ, η − μ, Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami distribution, and case study on Flat Rayleigh channel model and Rician channel model are also covered in this chapter.

The third chapter covers the detection theory (Bayes technique, Mini-Max technique, Neyman-Pearson technique), estimation theory (MMSE, MMAE, MAP, Wiener filter, Kalman filter, etc.), multiuser Massive MIMO, OFDM, and other related techniques like spatial diversity, spatial decoupling, ray tracing model, beam forming, OFDM, and CDMA are covered in Chap. 4. Recent promising techniques like non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), spatial modulation techniques, multicarrier transmission techniques like OFDM AND OQAM, millimeter wave transmission model, cooperative communication model, full duplex transmission, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based data collection are discussed in Chap. 5. The book is written such that it is suitable for the beginners who are doing basic research in wireless communication. It can be used as the graduate reference book.
